Kaka is the best - Leonardo
Monday, November 13, 2006

Be it his charismatic personality, or his trait of reaching out to virtually everyone, Leonardo de Araujo certainly won the hearts of the children at the Udayan, a centre mainly for children of leprosy patients.

The former Brazil and AC Milan left back was here to inaugurate the Sporting Centre which is been funded by the Fondizione Milan, of which, Leonardo is the general director. The centre consists of a hall for indoor games like table-tennis, carrom, chess and an outside court for basketball and badminton.

"It has been an absolute pleasure coming here and being associated with a foundation like Udayan," he told reporters after the inauguration. "It is very important to have proper sport facilities in educational institutions and places where children are groomed from such an early age," he added.

"Kolkata is a city that loves its football. I would be happy to do something bigger if I get the chance," he said. Leonardo hinted towards bringing in Milan players, but also said that it is a difficult proposition as they are busy with national or club duties almost through the year.

Asked about his opinion on the current crop of international footballers, he said: "I think Kaka is the best footballer in the world.

I would prefer him over Ronaldinho because I think he has an ability to win matches, however Ronaldinho has better skills." Talking about the Zidane-Materazzi head-butting incident, he said: "Of course it was unfortunate for a player like Zidane to end his illustrious career like that.

But in football, you have to face these incidents. With the amount of pressure on your shoulders, it is difficult to keep one's cool all the time."
