Milan draws with Fiorentina
Monday, December 18, 2006

Italy international Alberto Gilardino and Romanian Adrian Mutu scored two goals each as AC Milan and Fiorentina drew 2-2 in Italy's Serie A overnight.

Gilardino equalised with just a minute remaining having given Milan the lead in the fourth minute with a left-foot finish after good work from midfielder Cristian Brocchi.

Former Inter and Chelsea striker Mutu had brought the home side level from the penalty spot in the 20th minute after Milan's Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze handled inside the area.

Mutu struck again in the 76th minute after he was left unattended to beat Milan's Australian keeper Zejlko Kalac.

Gilardino's header, a minute from the end, after he rose to beat Dane Per Kroldrup and head home a flicked-on corner, earned a point for Carlo Ancelotti's side who nonetheless remain well outside the title race down in 14th place on just 14 points.

Fiorentina are two places behind in 16th place on 12 points, just two points above the relegation zone.

Both clubs began the season with points penalties imposed by a sports tribunal which had investigated allegations of match fixing.

Milan began on minus eight points while Fiorentina had a 15-point penalty imposed by the tribunal.

In other action, Udinese notched a 3-1 home win over Cagliari despite having to play the entire second half with 10 men.
