Our title chances are over - Kaka
Thursday, December 27, 2007
Kaka has conceded that Milan’s chances of winning the Scudetto are all but over following their defeat in the derby.
The Rossoneri lost 2-1 to Inter on Sunday and now trail the league-leaders by a whopping 25 points.
Milan are languishing in 12th position in the table having still failed to win at San Siro, although they do have three games in hand which will see them rise up to sixth if they win them all.
"Fighting for the title became quite difficult for us, but Milan are always battling to achieve that goal," said Kaka.
"The points difference is too big. We hope we can clinch at least a Champions League berth."
Milan took the lead in the derby courtesy of a fantastic Andrea Pirlo free-kick on 16 minutes, however Inter fought back through goals by Julio Cruz and Esteban Cambiasso to secure victory.
The European Champions’ first game after the winter break is on January 13 at home to Napoli. Teenage wonderkid Alexandre Pato is due to make his debut for Milan in this match.
