Kaka backs Ron to bag award
Tuesday, November 11, 2008
Brazilian ace Kaka believes Cristiano Ronaldo fully deserves to succeed him as the 2008 Ballon d'Or winner.
The playmaker scooped the prestigious accolade along with the Fifa World Player prize last year after being the driving force behind AC Milan's seventh European champions title.
But the 26-year-old is also aiming to show his potential successor how it's done by inspiring his country to beat Ronaldo's Portugal when they both meet in a friendly on 19th November.
"The match is important for me because we'll play at a stadium that's a few paces from where I was born," Kaka said.
"And I want to make all Brazilian people happy and beat Cristiano, who will deservedly win the Ballon d'Or."
Ronaldo is a strong favourite to take both the 2008 Ballon d'Or and Fifa World Player of the Year awards after inspiring Manchester United to the Champions League and Premier League double last season
