Kaka backs Beckham arrival
Friday, December 05, 2008

Kaka has defended the club's decision to sign David Beckham on a short-term loan deal in the winter transfer window.

The England midfielder will join the Rossoneri in January for two months before returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

''Many people believe Beckham's arrival will be a negative thing,'' said Kaka, himself a target for Premier League clubs in England. ''But us players we believe that he can really give a lot to this team and contribute to us winning the Scudetto and the UEFA Cup.''

Meanwhile, the 2007 Ballon d'Or winner Kaka admits he and his team-mates are still adapting to playing alongside Ronaldinho.

Kaka's fellow Brazil international arrived a the San Siro in the summer from Barcelona and has earned a regular spot in Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI.

''Before we were used to playing automatically,'' said Kaka. ''Since Ronaldinho's arrival, we still have to adapt. Perhaps he (Ronaldinho) limits me when he goes towards the left wing.

''We still have to find a better understanding. In the national team we have played together many times but it's not the same thing.''

The Rossoneri - who lie third in the Serie A standings, level on points with second-placed Juventus - have struggled of late with just one win in their last four league games.

They go into Sunday's match against Catania looking to reduce the six-point deficit to leaders Inter Milan.
